In this article you will find everything about the economic mechanics of the mod - currency, trading, forging, hiring and coin exchange.

Currency[]

Coins serve as the currency in the mod. They come in eight categories of value:

  • Copper Penny 1 (Copper Penny);
  • Copper Half-Groat 4 (Copper Half-Groat);
  • Copper Groat 16 (Copper Groat);
  • Silver Star 64 (Silver Star);
  • Silver Stag 256 (Silver Stag);
  • Silver Moon 1024 (Silver Moon);
  • Golden Dragon 4096 (Golden Dragon);
  • Valyrian Lord 16384 (Valyrian Lord).

Obviously, each successive coin is four times more expensive than the previous one. Coins cannot be created; to earn money, you must either complete quests or sell something to merchants.

The most effective way to earn money is to work in a mine. There you can mine gems and metals, for which all merchants in the world have fixed prices. These gems and metals can be sold to jeweler mobs or bought from miner mobs. Almost every faction has them.

  • Valyrian ingot is worth 512 (Silver Stag);
  • Golden ingot is worth 128 (Silver Star);
  • Silver ingot is worth 32 (Copper Groat);
  • Diamond is worth 128 (Silver Star);
  • Emerald is worth 96 (Silver StarCopper Groat);
  • Amber is worth 64 (Silver Star);
  • Opal is worth 64 (Silver Star);
  • Ruby is worth 64 (Silver Star);
  • Sapphire is worth 64 (Silver Star);
  • Topaz is worth 64 (Silver Star);
  • Amethyst is worth 64 (Silver Star).

It is important to realize that these precious minerals are generated with the appropriate rarity, so it is equally profitable to mine them. The exception is Valyrian steel, it is rarer than it is worth.

It is also important to realize that all blocks and items that contain the above-described metals and gems in crafting are proportionately expensive from merchants.

Interesting fact: in the 2019 - 2022 builds, the coin system was decimal, with four denominations (1, 10, 100, 1000). Coins could also be crafted. This caused huge inflation and a broken economy in the game.

General Concepts[]

The first thing we need to do is find the interactive mob we want to have interaction with. Interactive mobs are considered to be:

  • Merchants (jewelers, lumberjacks, stonecutters and many others) - they only know how to trade and barter coins.
  • Blacksmiths - they can trade, forge and trade coins.
  • Commanders - they can trade coins and hire out military units.
  • Farmers - they can trade, trade coins and hire out labor units.

Each action will be detailed below.

Merchants, blacksmiths and farmers can be found primarily in settlements at markets. Blacksmiths can also additionally be found in forges, and farmers can be found in farms, vegetable gardens, and pastures. Commanders are generally found in various fortresses.

To start an interaction, click on the mob with the PCM. A menu will open with several choices (some listed below, but not all at the same time): talk, coin exchange, trade, smith, hire.

Coin Exchange[]

Размен монет

Coin exchange is useful for combining accumulated change into larger coins, or vice versa, exchanging large denominations for small coins. If your reputation with the changer's faction is negative, you will not be able to exchange coins.

To make the exchange, put your coins in the slot in the center, then decide what to convert it to. Click on the left or right arrow, then take the coins from the left or right slot.

Trading[]

Торговать

There is an article about each merchant on our wiki, and it has an exact list of items and prices. Enter the name of the merchant in the search to read more.

Trading allows the player to buy or sell any items and blocks, and accordingly give or receive coins for doing so. If your reputation with the merchant's faction is negative, trading will not be possible.

All merchants have different items and prices, so it makes sense to talk to all the merchants in the area and find one with the best offer. Also note that if you trade with the same merchant very often, one day trade with him will be temporarily blocked; this will happen faster if you trade valuable items. The trade blocking will subside after a while.

Let's describe the actual act of buying/selling:

  • To sell an item, move it from your inventory to the third line of the trade menu (“You want to sell”). Make sure the mob purchases such items (the second line of the menu is “You can sell”). The number of coins you will receive as a result will be displayed below. Click on the get coins button to make the sale happen.
  • To buy an item, simply click on it in the first line of the trade menu (“You want to buy”). Make sure you have enough money to buy it. If you have enough, the item will appear in your possession and you can put it in your inventory.

Smithing[]

Кузнец

There is an article on our wiki about each blacksmith, and it has an exact list of items and prices. Type the blacksmith's name into the search to read more.

Forging allows the player to repair, re-forge, engrave, combine, and rename any item, mostly weapons, for coins. If your reputation with the blacksmith faction is negative, forging will be impossible.

Blacksmiths work on the same principle as an anvil, only the anvil allows the player to fix their items with materials, while the blacksmith fixes the player's items for money, without the need to have materials. Logically, it is assumed that the blacksmith has these materials, that is, he buys them. This also determines the price of mending - the blacksmith knows how much he buys this or that metal, and, based on its cost per ingot, can estimate how much it will cost to mend.

Thus, blacksmiths cannot repair items in the following situations:

  • The item is created from a material that the blacksmith does not have available for purchase and does not know its price. The exceptions are wooden, stone, gold, and obsidian tools, the materials for which smiths do not purchase but know the price. Quokhorian blacksmiths can also mend Valyrian items.
  • The item has no breakage information, meaning the blacksmith does not know how many items are needed to mend. This is mainly the case with hoes.

As mentioned earlier, in addition to mending, the smith allows other actions:

  • Reforging - a way to remove bad effects from weapons (bent, dull).
  • Alignment with blueprint - a way to improve a weapon by adding cool effects (sharpness, length).
  • Engraving - a way to add your nickname to an item's description, and erase the names of past owners.
  • Renaming - a way to give a different name to an item.
  • Aligning with a gem - a way to change the color of an item's name to a different color. The photo above shows how this works with sapphire.

Each action above costs money.

Hiring[]

Наём

There is an article on our wiki about each commander, and it has an exact list of units and prices. Enter the commander's name in the search to read more.

Hiring allows the player to hire any units, mostly warriors and laborers, for coins. If your reputation with the commander/farmer faction is negative, hiring will not be possible. In addition, each unit costs different money, requires different reputation and sometimes even an oath.

To hire a unit, you need to click on the sword button. The arrows flip through the list of units. The squadron assignment field is then needed to organize several separately manageable units. For example, squadrons can be named “1” and “2”, then scraft two command horns, click them with the PCM on the command table and assign one squadron “1” and the other squadron “2”. After that, each horn will control (on the PCM) only the units of its squadron. But in general squadrons are not necessary, just a unified army.

In addition to units, the hiring window contains a “?” slot, which opens at 500 reputation and contains a conquest horn. If you buy it and blow into it on a long press of the PCM, it will start invasion. This horn is not present in farmers, but is present in commanders.

Bought units are also interactive mobs, they have menus on the PCM.

A military unit can be released or commanded. Commands include:

  • Change equipment - give the mob a different weapon and armor and it will fight with them. In case of death, all items will be dropped.
  • View development level - for each killed enemy the unit's skill grows, it pumps health.
  • Squad change - to make the unit obey another horn.
  • Guard Mode - to have the unit walk in a radius around the point to be guarded instead of following you.
  • Auto Transfer - to have the unit teleport behind you if you move quickly, or not.

A working unit can be released or commanded. Commands include:

  • Enable farmer mode - from this moment it will start plowing plots in the radius. It is desirable to limit the unit with a fence and provide a block of water in the ground, so that it plows a specific fertile vegetable garden.
  • Open the inventory - there you can give seeds and bone meal to the mob and harvest it.

Since the unit is an already recruited mob, it performs all actions for free.

Exploits[]

Currently, the fastest way to make money is to loot structures by melting all metal in the smelter. This method is constantly being refined - for example, all gold cups and chandeliers in structures have been replaced by bronze or copper ones. Nevertheless, the method is still quite fast.
