In this article you will find everything about the mod's political mechanics - factions, reputation, privates, oath, conquest and invasion.

Factions[]

Формации

To begin with, a faction is any state, region, tribe, etc., acting independently in the political arena. To find out the full list of factions, you can open the mod menu on “L” right inside the game and click on the “Factions” button. After that, a book-like interface will open up, with pages displaying a lot of information: area on the map, sphere of influence, current player reputation, oath seal, faction titles, enemies and allies. All the information does not fit on one page of the book, so to learn more, you need to flip to the corner of the book - it will be highlighted. The sphere of influence is shown by a red plus sign at the top right of the map.

Only one faction is shown per book; to select another, you must use the continent change buttons below the book or the sliders on the colored scales (each color is a different faction).

Our wiki has an article about each faction. Enter its name in the search to read more.

Reputation[]

Шкала

Reputation is inextricably linked to factions. Conditionally: how does a mob realize that there is an enemy in front of it? It's simple: the game has a list of allies and enemies of the faction, and the mob realizes that if there is a mob of the enemy faction in front of it, it must be attacked. But this system does not apply to the player, because the player can play for any faction, for several factions or against all of them. This is why the concept of player's reputation in the eyes of the faction was introduced, which affects whether he will be honored or lynched when meeting in a particular region.

A player's reputation is maintained separately for each faction.

There are only three ways to influence a faction in the game: kill someone, steal something, and complete a quest. Obviously, the first two ways worsen reputation, while the third one improves it. But killing, unlike the other ways, affects not only the faction of the killed mob, but also the allies and enemies of that faction. Enemies are happy that the player helps them - his reputation in their eyes grows. Allies are ready to take revenge for killing their friends - the player's reputation drops.

To find out your reputation with a particular faction, look at the top of the screen. There you will find the reputation scale of the selected faction (to scroll through the factions, press ←/→ (within a continent) or ↑/↓ (between continents)).

The reputation scale shows the selected faction, your reputation in its eyes (sword position on the scale) and the current title of the player. The title can be set as a prefix for the player's nickname in chat, this is done in the mod menu by pressing “L” in the “Titles” section.

Sphere of Influence[]

Сфера

Each faction has its own sphere of influence. This is logical - for example, if someone in real life killed a person in Australia, no one in the USA would care. Also in the game: if a player wants to improve or ruin the reputation of a faction, he should study the sphere of influence of that faction. As mentioned above, this can be done in the faction menu using the plus sign on the map, but there are other ways to do it that don't require distractions during combat.

Note the picture from the section above, which shows the reputation scale. If you see triangles to the left and right of the scale, it means that you are in that faction's area of influence, and that killing an NPC will affect your reputation. The arrows will become semi-transparent if you are in the borderline half-influence zone, and will completely disappear when you are completely out of the influence zone.

If you see a dot to the left and right of the scale, it means that there is a representative of the chosen faction nearby. In this case, the amount of reputation when killing will be half as much as in a full sphere of influence, but it will still be there nonetheless. There are witnesses!

What does a good reputation bring?[]

With a bad reputation it's obvious - you'll get killed. But with a good reputation, there are more points:

  • Obviously, you won't be attacked.
  • You will be able to teleport to waypoints belonging to your faction.
  • You'll be able to get titles. Higher reputation means more titles. Open the mod menu with an “L” and look in the titles section.
  • Faction shield and cloak - you can wear it if you have 100 reputation. Unlock the mod menu on “L” and look in the attributes section.
  • Quests - if you have a low reputation you will not be able to do them.
  • Trade - most merchants, blacksmiths and farmers in the mod will only trade with you if you have a good reputation with their faction (or at least neutral).
  • Hiring - farmers and troop commanders are not willing to sell their units to just anyone. And elite warriors require oath, but more on that later.
    • The cost of hiring a unit decreases as your reputation increases.
    • The cost of hiring a unit decreases even more after you have taken oath.
    • When you reach a reputation of 500, you can buy an invasion horn. Blow it on the PCM anywhere and waves of allied troops will spawn there.
  • Oath becomes available at reputation 100, and this opens new possibilities, which will be written about below.
  • Banner Privates - an allied banner on a metal block will protect you from uninvited guests, invasions, explosions, fires and other misfortunes by acting as a privates. More details below.

Banners[]

Приват знаменем

Banners are not just a nice decoration, but also a way to privatize a region. Take the banner of any faction with which you have at least 0 reputation. After that, place it on a metal block: bronze, silver, gold and Valyrian are available.

After that, the player will get the achievement “Native to our lands” and the territory in a certain radius around it will be protected. The banner will have the “defending” property from now on.

  • A bronze block creates a cuboid of protection with side 8.
  • A silver block creates a defense cuboid with a side of 16.
  • A gold block creates a cuboid of protection with a side of 32.
  • A Valyrian block creates a defense cuboid with side 64.

At F3, you can see the defending banner highlighted in green. You can also see the borders of the cuboid. The banner can be broken in survival and will retain its defensive properties.

If you click the PCM on the defending banner, you can see a lot of graphical settings there, such as:

  • Work per faction or by wightlist. The second method works exactly the same as vanilla priv with a wooden axe. The first lets all faction allies with a given reputation through.
  • Enable or disable banner self-defense. If turned off, enemies can somehow sneak up on the banner, destroy it, and thus accomplish a region takeover.
  • Protect doors or not.
  • Protect chests or not.
  • Protect workbenches and other functional blocks or not.
  • To protect food and drink or not.
  • Protect beds or not.
  • Protect switches and other mechanisms or not.

Oath[]

Присяга

The oath is an extreme type of loyalty. A player can have a good reputation with many factions, but can only swear to one. To take an oath to a faction, you need to gain 100 reputation with it, and then open the “Factions” section in the mod menu with an “L” and click on the seal there.

After taking the oath, a fanfare will sound and the player will get new abilities:

  • Hiring elite faction units;
  • All faction units cost half as much;
  • Conquering biomes on behalf of the faction. It also allows you to unlock enemy waypoints on the map.

After taking the oath, the seal changes meaning, and now pressing it will cause the oath to be broken.

Violation of Oath[]

Нарушение присяги

There are three ways to break an oath:

  • Kill faction mobs or allied mobs;
  • Lose a lot of faction reputation so that it goes below 100;
  • Press the seal and break it.

If you break your oath, you will hear the sound of amogus, your reputation will drop to extremely low values, all bonuses will disappear, and the whole world will remember that you are not a very trustworthy person. However, after a while the oath to different factions will be available again.

Conquest[]

ЗавоеваниеУбийство

Conquest is the main ability given by the oath. From now on, the player and his troops that kill enemies in a certain biome can conquer that territory for their faction. In the game it looks as follows: each kill shows, in addition to the usual yellow reputation icon, a red icon of conquest points growth. Gradually, the enemy NPCs' spavn will get smaller and smaller, while their own spavn will increase. Information about each threshold value will be displayed on the achievement site.

To see the conquest visually, place the command table on the ground and click on it with the PCM. The map is divided into squares of 1024x1024 blocks. Each square has a number of conquests for each faction.

ЗавоеваниеСтол

If the number of conquests is zero, the square is not colored. When killing enemies, the square is colored red and the areas near it are lighter. On new kills, the shades darken. The darkest colors shown on the map always indicate the highest value shown there.

Not any biome can be conquered, but only those that are plus or minus canonical, logical, and provided for in the code. Our wiki describes the details on both sides: the faction articles say which biomes they can conquer, and the biomes articles say which factions can conquer them.

Enemy waypoints that are normally blocked to visit become open when conquered in that region.

The conquest must be maintained, or there will be an automatic de-occupation of the territory, a mechanic that is the opposite of conquest. It begins only after there has been no change in a particular square for thirty minutes. It occurs at a rate of one unit every fifteen minutes. In order not to lose the conquest, you need to keep fighting enemies in the right region.

Invasions[]

Вторжение

Invasion is an involuntary game event that means a spontaneous attack of one faction's units on another faction. Unlike conquest, invasion is not controlled by the player (but can be initiated by him - for this he must have an invasion horn, which can be bought from warlords/creatives).

The first indication that an invasion has begun is the sound of the horn and a message in chat that says:

[Faction] has started an invasion nearby!

Weapons start spinning in the air and a boss scale appears at the top of the screen. Each time the horn is trumpeted, one to six soldiers appear, which can appear up to ten blocks away from the spinning weapon. The units can be any of the faction's units, be they archers, bannermen, or arsonists.

Killing each mob from the invasion reduces the boss scale, and at the end the spinning weapon will explode and the invasion will end. If the player is in creative mode, however, they can break the spinning weapon with their hand.

Exploits[]

Oath of the White Walkers allows you to make conquest several times more effective, as immortal waves of allies spawning turn enemies into wychs and make the military presence even greater.
